Tiny solar system necklace, laser cut from cherry wood, showing all nine planets.

The minimalist design and use of negative space means that the colour of your clothes will show through the planet-shaped holes, so the necklace will look a little different each time you wear it!

I designed this statement necklace shortly after finishing my PhD in Astrophysics! It combines my love of science and laser cut jewellery. I hope you love it as much as I do. As a scientist, I love accuracy. That's why on this necklace, the sizes of the planets are drawn exactly to scale.

Have you ever wondered why the planets are all in a line? That's because they originally formed from a disc of material that was rotating around the Sun. Over time, this material started to clump together to form the planets we see today. Pluto is the one exception, and this is one of the reasons it had it's 'planetary status' removed in 2006. I still think of Pluto as being part of the solar system though, so I've included it on this necklace. If you're not a Pluto fan, never fear! Care tips:

This necklace is made from wood, so make sure it stays dry. No accidental trips in the washing machine, please!
The chain is silver plated, so to keep it in tip-top condition you should keep it away from soaps, makeup, perfumes, and other chemicals.
